The Natural History Museum had its most successful year ever in 2023/24
In the year to April 2024, we welcomed nearly six million people through our doors
Museum staff made great strides towards our strategic goals. Our researchers have made valuable contributions to scientific research and teams have secured funding to safeguard our collections far into the future.
Highlights include:
- 326,275 people came face-to-face with a 2.67-tonne Titanosaur in our most popular exhibition in decades
- We made exciting progress in transforming our beautiful five-acre gardens, ahead of its reopening to the public in summer 2024.
- The 59th edition of Wildlife Photographer of the Year at South Kensington became the most popular and highest grossing in decades, visited by 170,000 people.
- We described 815 new species, including a new dinosaur from the Isle of Wight.
- We digitised over 300,000 specimens, making them available digitally via the Data Portal.
