This species was originally described from a 1.66mm male found in the intestine of the fish Dicromita agassizii caught at a depth of 1000m in the Gulf of Mexico. The other records are of specimens that are probably the same sampled in a number of hauls from depths of 3000-4000m close to the abyssal seabed in the North Atlantic between 20° and 37°N.
