This was another of the six Bathyconchoecia species that Deevey (1968) described when she originally established the genus. The two males were in the intestine of the fish Dicromita agassizii caught in the Caribbean, and so were probably consumed on or close to the seabed. A number of specimens of a very similar looking species have been collected in benthopelagic samples from the Northeast Atlantic at depths of 4000m, but these still await study to confirm their identity.
