A unique female was collected, in a net deployed from the French submersible Archimede at a depth of 2400-2450m during a dive off the Azores. Despite a large number of deep and near seabed plankton tows being made in the North Atlantic further specimens have not be collected since. This may be because it may inhabit either bathyal or seamount environments, which have hardly been sampled for mesozooplankton let alone halocyprids.
