This is one of the five species of seven-spined Bathyconchoecia that have been described (Kornicker and Rudjakov, (2004). It has the longest spines of all the known species, and has been sampled from both abyssopelagic and epibenthic environments at depths of 2000-5500m. It has only been reorded from the North Atlantic where its known latitudinal range is 8° N to 31°N.
