This species has only been taken at two stations in bottom trawls towed on the North West African shelf at depths of 173m and 352m. It has many characteristics in common with crosnieri. Living specimens were opaque with patches of red pigmentation in the vicinity of the posterior dorsal corner and below the rostral incisure.
