26 records
This species was originally described from off Bermuda when Deevey (1978) described six new Archiconchoecia species. Since then apart from a single record from 62°S in Eltanin samples (Deevey, 1983), all the records have been from deep mesopelagic to bathypelagic depths in the North Atlantic. It is seldom taken in abundance. Chavtur and Stovbun (2003) in their revision of the genus Archiconchoecia placed in a new genus Archiconchoecetta along with ten other species with close affinities to ventricosa.
