Since being described by Deevey from 18°N in the Western Atlantic, and later reported by the same author off Bermuda no records of this species have been published. It has regularly occurred but never in great abundances in Discovery samples (unpublished) from the N.E.Atlantic between 18°N and 53°N at mesopelagic depths of 300-800m. So at present this species is only known from the North Atlantic, but this is more likely to reflect the limited sampling and comprehensive analysis, rather than the true zoogeographical range of the species.
